Jake and Emily. Day 14.

“Nothing like a virtual-laundry-folding-party. Romance.”

Jake

Tell us about today!

We folded laundry together today. Good practice for marriage, eh? Just kidding, we talked on the phone, but there may have been laundry folding on one or both of our ends during the whole thing.  A little multitasking never hurt anyone... probably.

Nothing too out of the ordinary.  We just talked about the normal stuff, ya know?

What did you learn about them? What did you learn about yourself?

I specifically asked Emily to tell me something about her that I didn't know so that I could answer this question.  Turns out we got off on some tangent and she never got around to answering my question.

So here we are.

Oh here is something. Emily owns an Instapot.

On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate your time together today?

Seven. The conversation felt natural and comfortable.  If nothing comes of this, Emily is the type of person I can talk well with and get along with. We could easily continue to be friends.

On a scale from 1-10 how positively do you feel about your relationship at this point?

Seven. I go through phases of feeling really good about this and phases of feeling uncertain.  I suppose that's how relationships generally are? On average, I feel a solid 7.

On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate your chemistry with him/her?

Seven.

Other thoughts?

I have felt so tired these last two weeks.  I took a nap today. I don't think I have taken a nap since I was in college, which, as it turns out, wasn't too long ago... but, still.

Emily

Tell us about today!

We spent the last six days together, so it was time to take a day off and get caught up on life. FaceTime wasn't working so we had a good 'ole fashioned phone call instead. The conversation flowed, laughs were had. It was fun and we were able to multi-task while doing house stuff. Nothing like a virtual-laundry-folding-party. Romance.

What did you learn about them? What did you learn about yourself?

Jake likes his roommate’s crockpot.

He also really likes using "dark mode" on his electronic devices (less eye strain).

Jake, once again: when you read these, I want you to know I really do think you're an interesting person, even if I don't always remember your many interesting facts late at night.

On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate your time together today?

Seven. Chatting for 45 minutes or so made me realize I haven't really had Jake to myself this week. I think I've been in my head a lot the last few days because I actually haven't talked to him much. Just laughing on the phone and being dumb was a good reminder to not be so self-serious with this thing. I’m liking that we're supposed to have a real conversation on the days we don't see one another.

On a scale from 1-10 how positively do you feel about your relationship at this point?

Six. Who the heck knows.

On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate your chemistry with him/her?

Seven.
