Tell us about today!

Oh my goooshh I was panicking! I felt like up until today I was abnormally calm, but starting this morning I was getting NERVOUSSS! Needless to say, I was very unproductive at work.😬

What was your first impression of Sarah?

Honestly, when I finally saw her I was relieved. I’d spent the prior 10 minutes trying to make eye contact with every girl that walked by to figure out if she was my “bae”, and after several awkward stare downs, it was finally nice to make eye contact with Sarah and realize she was the one! First thing I noticed was her pretty smile, then her eyes. She has very pretty eyes:) I then noticed her height. She’s probably around 5’8” and I’m 5’9” (on a good day), so with her shoes, we were pretty much the same height.

Tell us about the date!

TDB decided to have us meet up at Scheels, which I love that store, but it wasn’t super romantic.. and sadly the Ferris Wheel was down for the night. So we walked around and talked about how CRAZY it was to be doing this. We had small talk and got to know each other.

I hadn’t been able to eat much leading up to the date due to the nerves, so with the introductions out of the way, the appetite returned and we went to an Indonesian Restaurant (MakanMakan) nearby to get dinner and continue our conversation. Conversation went fairly smooth with only a couple of gaps, however knowing that I would see her again tomorrow, helped me to not worry too much about it.

Post dinner we both wanted to see “Free Solo”, but needed to kill time until the next movie showtime. So we went on a very little hike on South Mountain that gives a great overview of the Valley.

The highlight of the trip for me was probably the first 4 or 5 minutes of meeting her and realizing that she is a very cool girl and that these next 30 days will probably be a lot of fun! She has a sense of humor and a personality and I consider myself very lucky to have the next 30 days to get to know her better :)

What did you learn about yourself?

I don’t know if I learned anything new, but I did confirm that I tend to be a little bit more reserved during the first couple of dates. I thought maybe with this dating situation being different than any other I’ve been in, it my help me be a little more open. However, I still felt like I was reserved, and that’s just how I am when I date. It takes a couple of dates until I feel comfortable being my complete self.

On a scale from 1-10 How would you rate your date tonight.

Seven. It was a lot of fun, but I felt like it lacked a solId plan because we weren’t quite sure what we were supposed to be doing..

On a scale from 1-10 how positively do you feel about your relationship at this point?

Eight. I’m feeling optimistic. I think we have similar interest and have a shared vision for the next 30 days. I was in no way disappointed or discouraged by tonight. Hope she feels the same :)

Tell us about today!

I was excited up until the day of, then I got progressively more nervous as the day went on. I do remember thinking that it didn't really matter what he thought about me because he was stuck with me for 30 days anyways. And that helped haha. But the main things I was hoping for was that (1) I didn't already know him, and (2) that he wasn't annoying. (obviously didn't end up knowing him, and so far he isn't annoying).

What was your first impression of him?

Very easy to talk to and feel comfortable around. I also thought he was kind of short (I've dated guys my height though so I didn't really care). I was wearing some boots that gave me an inch or two of height, but he is actually taller than me.

 Tell us about the date!

We met up at Scheels and walked circles around the store just talking and talking. We talked mostly about how we heard about 30 Day Bae and why we initially signed up for it. We walked around Scheels for a while because we didn't know what we were supposed to do. But ultimately we both were like "Well, we're dating now so I guess we can do whatever we want." So we went and got some food at an Indonesian restaurant and went and saw Free Solo the movie. I learned that he served his mission in Indonesia and we talked about all the places we've traveled to (he's been to New Zealand which is top of my list of places I want to go to). I had SO much fun and we have a lot in common. He is a very easy going guy so I never felt weird or awkward on our date. He's easy to feel good and confident around. I learned we both love the outdoors and we both majored in Recreation Management at BYU. I didn't think there were any awkward moments and the conversation wasn't lacking. He isn't the typical guy I find myself going on dates with though so I probably would have ended up friend-zoning him. But not like the "lets be friends" and not see them anymore kind of friend-zoning, I would actually want to be friends with him.

What did you learn about yourself?

I kept thinking about how things were going to end up and it was preventing me from being in the moment. I learned that I need to be in the moment more.

On a scale from 1-10 How would you rate your date tonight.

Nine. It was really fun talking and getting to know each other. We were also spontaneous. We had eaten dinner and I was talking about the movie "Free Solo" that I wanted to see, so we looked up times and went. It allowed us to get to know each other a little bit more. Our first date was 4-5 hours long.

On a scale from 1-10 how positively do you feel about your relationship at this point?

Eight. I know at the very least we are going to have a lot of fun together.

Other thoughts?

We want to make a bucket list of things to do together during 30 Day Bae and I’m excited about that.
